CHICAGO: Two Indian-Americans are contesting for the same Illinois’ 8th Congressional district in November this year. Incumbent Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D) is seeking to retain his seat while community activist Jitendra ‘JD’ Diganvker (R) has joined the fray on a platform to serve better the Indian Americans and the community at large.

“I represent true American dream. I immigrated to the U.S. over 20 years ago legally, without a penny in my pocket. All I had were dreams and aspirations. My campaign represents the American dream while my opponent represents partisan politics,” said Diganvker.

He added, “One of my top priorities will center around working in bipartisan way to get an immigration reform bill. This will be done by bringing all elected Congressmen together, regardless of their party affiliations, to work in that direction. With confidence he declared, “Americans need highly skilled labor today.”

The immigration reform bill deals with DACA, border security, and overhauling legal immigration. Then there is a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program for legal immigration by eliminating visa lottery and limiting family visa.  Diganvker strongly believes in merit-based migration.

“I’m an entrepreneur, husband, father and community leader. I’ve made money and I’ve lost money. I’ve created businesses and I’ve lost businesses. But I never lost sight of the greatness of our country and my desire to succeed,” said Diganvker.

“My opponent doesn’t represent you, me, or the constituents of the 8th Congressional District. My opponent only represents special interest groups and the Democratic machine. In nutshell, he represents the American nightmare.  If my opponent and the Democratic Party take control of Congress in November, the focus won’t be on tax cuts, job creation, the American workers, health care or national security.  The focus will be just on two things: How do we investigate President Trump and his administration? How do we impeach President Trump?,” JD said

Vouching that he’d work for the working class, he added, “My opponent does not care about hard working Americans. He’s only focused on collecting money and then collecting votes.”

JD ran his own business and faced problems and knows the hardships that common people go through. He went through family loss and people can relate to him.

JD wants to lower taxes on families and businesses. “We need to focus on increasing incomes, not raising taxes,” he said. He supports lowering taxes for all Americans and making the tax code simpler and fairer. He wants to fix health care that takes care of hard working Americans. “We need a healthcare system that fosters competition and lowers costs,” he said.

JD wants to create jobs and expand opportunity. “Job creators are fleeing across our State’s borders. In order to grow the economy and create more quality jobs we need to reduce costly taxes and regulations,” he said. He also wants to reduce spending and debt.

“Money doesn’t vote.  Since the start of the campaign, my focus has always been on the people. While my opponent has been out meeting with donors and special interest groups, I’ve been out in the district meeting with voters,” JD said.

Last, but not the least, JD was firm in his stand. “I will unite all people, regardless of political affiliation for a better, stronger community and country. And I look forward to serving my friends, neighbors and constituents in the 8th District as their representative in Washington, D.C.,” he said.
