CHICAGO: The Hindu Mandir of Lake County in Grayslake, a Chicago suburb, celebrated Shree Hanuman Janam-Utsav, the birth of Lord Shri Hanuman, April 20 with more than 300 devotees participating.
The devotees with the children sought Hanuman’s blessings and protection, and the temple priests actively encouraged children’s participation
Baby Hanuman along with many young children in Hanuman costumes were welcomed at the door of the shrine by Pandit Anil Joshi with Swagata Shistachar amid chants of “Jai Hanuman”. Children enjoyed wearing Lord Hanuman’s mythological costumes.
The Abhishekam of Hanuman started with Puja Sankalpam and chanting of Vedic mantras by Yogesh Pandey, and the performance of Vedic Abhishekam rituals by Pandit Ganesh along with sponsor families. Devotees brought home-made sweets for Bhog Arpanam. Melodious bhajans were sung by Sangeetha Singh, Vasu Choksi, and Athul Soni.
Later, Pandit Joshi delivered his discourse on the significance of Lord Hanuman and his blessings in Kali Yuga. He said that Lord Hanuman is the only god who is present in all the Yogas – Satya, Treta Dwapara, and Kali. Sincere faith in Lord Hanumangives one strength to face the challenges in life.
Pandit Joshi blessed everyone by offering them Pushpam, Thirtham, and special laddus.After archanas and Maha Mangal Arati, Maha Prasadam was served to all those attending.
