CHICAGO: With open enrollment due to start, the Asian Health Coalition (AHC) and its partners have been actively conducting education and outreach about the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace.
AHC is one of 44 community-based organizations around the state that have been selected to participate in the outreach and enrollment initiative for the Affordable Care Act.
The agency has a collaborative partnership with Hamdard Center for Health and Human Services (Hamdard), to assist in efforts to reach limited English speaking Laotian, South Asian and Eastern European communities in Chicago and the Western region of Illinois stretching from Kane to Winnebago counties. “We are 501(c) 3 non-profit agencies and share a similar goal of improving health and access to quality, affordable care for underserved minority communities.
We recognize the immediate need to help educate the public about the more affordable and comprehensive options that will be available through the Marketplace,” said Ranjana Paintal, Project Director at AHC in a joint statement with Kiran Siddiqui of Hamdard.
Enrollment in the Marketplace will begin on October 1with coverage to start Jan 1, 2014.
