The Satya Narayan Mandir of Woodside Avenue, Elmhurst, New York, also called GurMandir represents a unique Sindhi tradition of combining Gurdwara and Mandir in the same premise. This is the oldest and the only GurMandir in the Americas and organizes and celebrates several weekly, monthly, and annual programs with utmost zeal and zest.
The Mandir holds a standing Hanuman Chalisa chanting with melodious sangeet program every Tuesday from 7:00pm to 8:15pm followed by a splendid Langar Prasadam. On September, 02, 2025, a grand and large-scale Sundar Kanda Path and Hanuman Chalisa Parayana, a sacred prayer dedicated to Lord Hanuman Ji was organized and the sacred hymns were chanted by the priests Pt. Hemant Ramrakhyani and Pt. Anand Tripathi along with the devotees. A large hall full of devotees seeking Lord’s blessings gathered in traditional colorful attires and participated with utmost devotion in the chanting for a more than 2-hour period. The powerful vibrations from the chanting filled the shrine with divine energy.
Both pandits chanted the verses with devotion and accuracy by incorporate musical instruments and created a more vibrant and uplifting atmosphere. They described brilliantly the valorous acts of Hanuman Ji, during his journey to Lanka. Devotees participated by singing along, clapping, and feeling the spiritual energy present during the path. Their narration of Hanuman Ji’s unsurpassed devotion to Lord Rama who embodies supreme intelligence, strength and courage impressed every devotee.
After Maha Mangal Arati of Lord Ram Parivar and Lord Hanuman Ji and the other deities of the temple, the president of the temple thanked all the devotees for their enthusiasm and active participation in the program, as well as volunteers and sponsors for their support and dedication. Temple priest, Pt. Ramrakhyani Ji blessed all the devotees for their prosperity and offered them fruits and laddus. Later a sumptuous Maha Prasadam was served to all the devotees
One of the devotees added: “May the positive energy indeed continue, creating more magical moments for the entire humanity in the future.”
