Mahabharata, that most-loved Indian epic, will be back on the big screen, albeit in an animated version.
Some of the biggest names from the film industry have dubbed for the mythological characters. While actors Amitabh Bachchan and Sunny Deol have already come on board, now Vidya Balan has joined the team. Vidya will lend her voice to the character of Draupadi. But what’s more interesting is that to suit the voice, the on-screen image of Draupadi will be given a makeover.
A source close to the production house reveals, “Once Vidya agreed to be associated with the character for the film, the animation of the character was enhanced and worked upon in order to make it look closer to Vidya’s real-life personality. The actor’s physical attributes were added to the animated character of Draupadi, so that there is a connect between what the audience hear and watch on screen.” To make the animated character look more like Vidya, the team has made her more full-figured and curvy.
The source adds, “The film is being made with the good intention of parents being able to show it to their children in order to acquaint them with the stories. Vidya is the most appropriate choice to do the voice-over for the iconic character, Draupadi.”
