Kareena Kapoor, who played the role of a doctor in her film ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ in 2009 will once again don the white coat for ‘Udta Punjab’, which is underway.
“Udta Punjab is a hard-hitting film that talks about the prevalent drug culture in Punjab,” said a source. So the doctor’s role is totally different from the one she had played earlier. This one is more earthy and grounded, the source added.
In the Sabbir Khan directorial ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, Kareena played a doctor as well as a part-time model and so her role was more glamorous.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film is about substance abuse in Punjab and Kareena is paired opposite Punjabi singer-actor Daljit Dosanjh. The film also stars Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who plays a rape victim who takes to drugs.
