NEW DELHI: Filing her nomination papers from East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi today said that her responsibility has increased after being fielded from the party’s “traditional” seat.
Bedi, who was accompanied by Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, Vijay Goel and Mahesh Giri, reached the District Electoral Officer’s office at 12.05 PM.
“BJP does a lot of work in Krishna Nagar, which is the result of Dr Harshan Vardhan’s hard work,” she told reporters here after filing her nomination papers.
The former IPS officer said no error has been found in her nomination papers after the first examination. “We have passed with first class,” she said.
Asked if fielding her from party’s traditional seat – Krishna Nagar has increased her responsibility, she said, “Yes, I am a gardener. I am also a part owner.”
Earlier in the day, Bedi started her roadshow around 9.30 AM from Lajpat Rai Chowk of the area.
The former IPS officer also met tea and newspaper vendors in Krishna Nagar before taking out her roadshow and enquired about the kind of issues they were facing.
“Vardhan has given all his life to this area. This area (Krishna Nagar) will get two – both a cabinet minister and a CM,” Bedi told reporters here.
Vardhan said that he is very happy that people who have helped him, served him and blessed him are giving the same love and affection to Bedi also.
“They were deprived of a CM last year but they will be privileged again to have a CM from this constituency itself,” he said.
Asked if Bedi was fielded from Krishna Nagar as it is a safe seat, he said, “I think every seat is a safe seat for BJP. Ultimately, she had to contest from one seat. I don’t see any reason or logic in it being a safe seat. After all, we are in politics so we will choose the best seat, what is wrong in that?” –PTI
