CHICAGO: Bhartiya Senior Citizens of Chicago organized a five-day tour of Smoky Mountain in Tennessee & Northside. Close to 115 members and guests participated in this tour in two buses.
The tour lasted five days – September 9 to 13. BSC President Haribhai Patel and his executive committee members volunteered help for food and organization and other arrangement through out the tour.
The cooking van was specially arranged ahead to prepare Indian food throughout the tour. Members of BSC enjoyed fresh cooked Indian food with morning tea-breakfast, lunch and dinner all 5 days.
On September 10, the senior citizens visited Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. They enjoyed the scenery of great natural beauty. On September 11, the tour members visited America’s largest underground lake. The seniors had an amazing experience to see huge caverns; large enough to hold a two story building!
They saw colorful rock formations and a waterfall. The members took a guided boat trip across America’s largest underground lake – almost three football fields long! The members visited the 1120 feet underground Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It is America’s tallest and deepest underground waterfall. The most spectacular views in Chattanooga are at Ruby Falls. The amazing views of the Tennessee River flow and the surrounding mountain, ancient cave formations on the Ruby falls cave were mind boggling.
They saw The Magic Beyond Belief show by Darren Romeo in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. On September 12 the seniors enjoyed the four-hour Smoky Mountain Rail Road train ride.
