With the festive celebrations of Diwali, the Bollywood box office is lighting up with the release of the much-awaited film, Thugs of Hindostan. The other films which look lucrative are Tamil actor Vijay’s Sarkar and the mega-budget film 2.0 starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar which are also scheduled for a November release.
Here is a list of the big ticket releases for November.
Sarkar
Tamil superstar Vijay is all set to once again enthrall his fans in the AR Murgadoss directorial Sarkar. The movie has the Mersal actor in the role of a corporate criminal. Sarkar also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Radha Ravi. From what is evident from the teaser of the film, Sarkar revolves around a highly-successful CEO who takes on the failing political system of Tamil Nadu.
Thugs of Hindostan
Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Shaikh play thugs fighting the British army. Katrina Kaif adds oomph and glamour to the film with her role of a dancer Suraiyya Jaan. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the action-adventure film is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug. A Yash Raj Films production, Thugs of Hindostan is also Aamir’s first film with Amitabh.
Mohalla Assi
After being embroiled in controversy for a long time, Sunny Deol, Sakshi Tanwar and Ravi Kishan starring Mohalla Assi is finally set for its theatrical release. Directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi. the film is based on the book Kashika Assi by Kashi Nath Singh. The trailer of the film shows the character of Deol who is determined to build a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The official synopsis of the film reads, “Mohalla Assi is the story of Pandey ji (Sunny Deol), who despite adverse situations, wants to stick to his principles. Mohalla Assi is the story of Kanni Guru (Ravi Kissan) who has no principles. Mohalla Assi is the story of Nekram (Faisal Rashid) who makes his own principles. The conflict between the principles and realities of our time unfolds a challenging story of our great civilization.”
Pihu
Vinod Kapri’s thriller Pihu starring a two-year-old kid Myra Vishwakarma as the protagonist will also hit theaters this month. Pihu opened the features section of Indian Panorama at IFFI in 2017. The film’s narrative revolves around the two-year-old girl Pihu who is left alone at home and her mother’s dead body seems to be lying in the bedroom. The trailer of Pihu describes the film as “every parent’s worst nightmare”.
2.0
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starring sci-fi film 2.0 has had cinephiles excited for a long time now. While megastar Rajinikanth is the protagonist, Akshay plays the antagonist in the S. Shankar directorial. 2.0 is Shankar’s ambitious attempt to bring Rajinikanth’s beloved robot Chitti and his maker Dr. Vaseegaran back to the screens. With a massive budget of over Rs 500 crore, it is being touted as the most expensive Indian film ever made. Also starring Amy Jackson as the female lead, the film is scheduled for a November 29 release.
