CGI Chicago celebrates India’s 76th Republic Day

CHICAGO: The Consulate General of India, Chicago celebrated the 76th Republic Day of India on Sunday, 26 January 2025 in the Consulate.

The event began with Consul General Shri Somnath Ghosh unfurling the National Flag, followed by the rendition of India’s National Anthem. Consul General then read out the address of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, highlighting the significance of Republic Day and the country’s priorities and achievements. Consul General spoke about the strong India-US strategic partnership and acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the Indian diaspora in strengthening ties between the two nations. A cultural program was also organized as part of the celebration.

The event was graced by distinguished guests, including State Representative Dave Vella of the 68th District of Illinois, Alderwoman Shweta Baid and other elected representatives. Also in attendance was Mrs. Najma Heptullah, former Vice Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha (the Upper House of India’s Parliament) and former Governor of the State of Manipur, along with prominent members of the Indian diaspora.
