ST LOUIS: The India Association of St. Louis hosted officials from the Consulate General of India, Chicago on May 13 to provide consular services to the Indian community and the event was a huge success.
Indian Consulate has been extending help to members of the Indian community and Indian organizations for their passport and visa needs. This time was no different. Upon the request of Krishna Rao Moharir and Girdhar Sharma, the Presidents of India Association and Mahatma Gandhi Center, the Consulate agreed to organize a half day camp of consular services to the Indian Community at St. Louis.
Despite the hot weather, Consulate Officers – Birbal Anand, Asim Mandal and Ramesh drove to St. Louis and held the camp in the auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi Community Center (MGC) from 9:30 am to 3 pm. A large number of community members availed of the services and whoever couldn’t avail this great opportunity because of the Mother’s day weekend and students graduation time, requested the IAS and MGC to organize another such a useful event as soon as possible. Jignesh Patel, who runs Shrji Travel agency, provided Notary services.
The officers have answered every question the members had, in addition to providing on site services. They reminded the Board that the system at CG’s office is rapidly being improved to meet the requirements to every person of Indian origin, despite the huge volume of calls that are received on daily basis.

India Association Board consists of nine members. Moharir Krishna Rao (President), Sanjeeva Rao Chintakunta (President elect), Vijaya Lakshmi Buddhiraju (Treasurer), Sharath Rao (Secretary), Venkat Pulumati, Meera Jain, Vijay Bhutaria, Haridas Kartha and Sendil Rathina Sabhapathi.
The members of MGC Board are Girdhar Sharma (President), Vijaya Kumar Buddhiraju (Treasurer/Secretary), Raj Thakur, Venka Bodavula, Kurichety Prasad, Mohinder Partap, Palaniappan Suppiah, Anjan Roy, Dundoo Raghunandan and Jitendra Parbhu.
