CHICAGO: Indian Consulate in Chicago kept up its tradition of celebrating the Indian Republic Day with lot of enthusiasm. The celebrations took place in the presence of the elite of Indian community at its Downtown office on Saturday January 26.
The pattern of the celebration was the same but all those present enthusiastically participated in every detail. Indian Consul NJ Gamte welcomed all those present and thanked them for their presence on Saturday morning which according to him signified their feel and attachment for the land of their origin. This was followed by the unfurling of the Indian Tricolor and singing of Indian national anthem by all those present.
Indian Consul General Ms Mukta Tomar highlighted the significance of Indian Republic Day celebrations and talked about the progress made by the country and its close relationship with the US. She read out the Republic Day message of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
Present on the occasion were AIA National officials Naren Patel, business leader Balwinder Singh, former heads of FIA (new) Sunil Shah and Sardar Sangha, activists Ms Beena Patel, Dr M. Kapadia, Neil Khot, former AIA president Nand Kapoor, Ms Vandana Jhingan of FIA, Madhu Patel president NRI Press Club, Air India manager Rishikant Singh and State Bank officials.
