Iranian-Swedish actress Maryam Zakaria is delighted that she is living her childhood dream. “My goal, since childhood, was to become a Bollywood actress. I grew up in Sweden watching Hindi films and today, with Grand Masti’s success, I’ve realized my dream,” she says.
Maryam maintains that she has carefully paved her way into the industry, choosing the right numbers to dance to in films. “Right from my first number Dil Mera Muft Ka in Agent Vinod and Aa Re Pritam Pyaare in Rowdy Rathore to my Naagin number in Bajatey Raho this year, I’ve had hits. Since I’ve enjoyed dancing all my life, I enjoyed doing them,” she says.
She’s also happy she has received appreciation for her role in Grand Masti. “When fans message me online saying they like my acting, it feels wonderful. I’ve worked hard to get to this point. I’m glad that people have accepted me despite the fact that I’m from a different country. I’m now hoping to do more work as an actress and am currently looking through scripts,” she signs off.
