The Northern California Academy of Performing Arts in conjunction with Evergreen Studio of Music and The Arts presents Walt Disney’s classic story of Alice in Wonderland. After a recent successful production of Hairspray that appealed to a more mature audience, the production has returned to bring the Bay Area a fabulous show performed by a cast of highly talented child actors.
For the past several months, this show has been underway with casting, stage building, and costume designing. Not to mention dancing, singing and acting rehearsals for the cast in addition to their schooling. The large cast is split into two smaller cast groups. Cast A and Cast B gives more opportunities to their actors to take on bigger roles with more stage time.
The production is being supported by the City of Milpitas Mayor Jose Esteves, City of San Jose Councilmember Rose Herrera, Santa Clara County Third District Supervisor Dave Cortese, and ABS CBN Foundation International. The show is produced by the director of Norcal Academy, ElvieTeodoro and is being directed by Leilani Amour.
Norcal Academy of Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization that assists children and provides funding and scholarships for those with a strong love for music. Part of their mission states, “As a community we have a responsibility to give every child every opportunity to succeed and pursue their talents.”
The rendition that the production will be performing is centered on the 1951 Disney classic with additional lines from David Simpatico. The music was adapted for the screenplay with lyrics from Bryan Louiselle.
The performance can be seen at the Mexican Heritage Plaza Theater near Alum Rock Avenue in San Jose. Cast A can be seen Friday, October 25 @7:00 and Saturday, October 26, @ 2:00. Cast B performances will be shown on Saturday, 26 @ 7:00 and Sunday, October 27 @ 3:00.
