In line with its growth strategy and catering to the needs of the Scandinavian, European tourists into Goa, Finnair, Finland’s national carrier, has launched direct Goa-Helsinki flights. With an A330 aircraft, Finnair flights will be operated from Helsinki to Goa on Wednesdays and Sundays and from Goa to Helsinki on Mondays and Thursdays.
In addition, Finnair will add a weekly frequency on its Delhi route, flying six times a week to the Indian capital during the winter season. The Goa-Helsinki direct route will be available until March 21, 2018.
Desmond Chacko, general manager for India operations, said that on an average Finland is the fifth largest contributor of foreign tourists to Goa. With 6,000 Finnish citizens visiting Goa and given the demand seen in charter operations, Finnair decided to operate scheduled flights to the state.
“With the expected arrival of four new Airbus A350 aircraft in 2017, we are pressing ahead with our growth strategy,” says Juha Järvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair. “These newest additions will offer even more travel options and flexibility for our customers travelling between Asia and Europe through our efficient Helsinki airport hub which guarantees a short and smooth connection.”
Finnair is also expanding with new scheduled flights to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Havana in Cuba, and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and will be adding extra frequencies to many of its popular winter holiday and business destinations in Asia.
