FREMONT, CA: Bay area Indo-Americans vied with each other to bid farewell to popular Indian Consul General N.Parathasarathi who is leaving his office after a three year successful run as Indian CG at the San Francisco Consulate office.
Shri N Parthasarathi graduated as a Mechanical Engineer in 1974 from Mysore University and served as an Executive Engineer with a major PSU in India till 1980. He started serving as the Consul General of India in San Francisco from October 13, 2011. Earlier, from September 2005 to September 2008, he was Ambassador of India to the Republic of South Korea. From October 2008 to September 2011, he served as Ambassador of India to Senegal. He was also concurrently accredited as Ambassador of India to Mali, Mauritania, Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde islands, as well as High Commissioner of India to the Republic of The Gambia.
The farewell function was held at the Japra Vineyards hosted by Federation of Indo-Americans of Northern California (FIA) on Friday October 24 where the elite of Indian community flocked to express their appreciation for the departing CG as also to offer their best wishes to his new assignment.
Notable presence was that of State Senate Majority leader Ellen Corbett who presented him with a commemoratory plaque. The function was attended by 300 plus guests and invitees. Bollywood Celebrity Celina Jaitly and Manav Gohli were present at the function.
Dr Romesh Japra, Convener of FIA spoke at length on his relationship with Mr Parthasarathi and said he was one of his favorite CGs.
Mr Parthasarathi recalled his exciting journey of three years in Bay area, serving the Indian community which has the largest techie population. He lauded the community work done by FIA under the leadership of Dr Japra and assured his continued support. The ceremony was attended by community leaders, candidates running for State Senate, Assembly and local school boards.
