LOS ANGELES: Overseas friends of BJP, Los Angeles Chapter (OFBJPLA) organized a free membership drive in Artesia on February 8. The objective was to create awareness and support for BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for the upcoming parliamentary election this year.
This drive also gave an opportunity to OFBJP, LA executive team members to answer common questions generally asked by individuals who would like to support BJP but don’t know how to do so being in the USA. People who visited the booth were satisfied with information regarding various programs currently running in India and goals of BJP such as Mission 272+, Modi’s 8 point development for India, Brand India 5 T’s, Tea party etc. New members pledged not only to support BJP but also request their family and friends in India to support BJP. “Vote for India, Vote for Modi.”
“We are overwhelmed with the response after the interaction with people. Our biggest achievement today is new members joining OFBJP, LA and their commitment to request their family and friends in India to vote and support BJP” said P K Nayak Convenor of OFBJPLA.
Indians who often visit Artesia during weekends for grocery shopping and to check the latest news, upcoming events, religious functions and delicious food also visited OFBJP, LA booth and were very excited to know more about BJP’s plans, membership drive and initiative taken by OFBJP, LA team. Detailed flyers were distributed during the event to help people understand why we need a change in India and if given an opportunity how India will emerge within the next 60 months based on Modi’s 8 point development plan.
This was the first event organized by OFBJP, LA team after its inception in January 2014. The Event Committee discussed and outlined several events in next few months such as Run for Unity, Free Membership Drive in several parts of Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego areas. Team members, volunteers and visitors had very interactive and fruitful discussion with free snacks and tea served by OFBJP, LA. After successful membership drive and tremendous response from visitors event committee, it decided next membership event on Saturday, February 22 in Artesia from 1-6 pm.
Key members present during the event were P.K.Nayak, Anil Mahajan, Dilip Butani, Vijay Patil, Latesh Bhambani, Pranav Desai, Neeraj Pratap, Tushar Shah, Rajiv Srivastava, Onkar Bhasker, Balwinder Garcha, Prashant Dwivedi, Ramesh Ramnani, Manu Patel, Mehul Raja, Bhavin Mehta and Venkat Tungala.
