SAN FRANCISCO: Mahatma Gandhi’s 153rd birth anniversary was celebrated with enthusiasm by Indian community members in San Francisco Bay Area.
The event function was organized by Consul General, Indian Consulate General – San Francisco.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. T.V. Nagendra Prasad, Consul General emphasized the importance of emulating Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of simplicity, sustainability and peace in today’s context. He also paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Mahatma’s statue in San Francisco. He said that Mahatma Gandhi was not just son of India but is revered across the world as a true son of the world.
His speech was followed by a virtual address by Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishnan on “Mahatma Gandhi’s Global Leadership for Peace, Non-Violence and Satyagraha”.
