CHICAGO: Hindi Lovers Club of Illinois plans celebrating Hindi Diwas in coming July on a grand scale tying up with World Hindi Organization in New Jersey and a few other Hindi associations in the country, according to Gurbcahan Kaur, the founder CEO and past president of the Club.
The Club had organized a grand celebration of Hindi Diwas in 2014 inviting Indian CG Dr Ausuf Sayeed along with elites of Chicago Indian community with active participation from second generation Indians.
Besides popularizing Hindi in this part of the world, the Club has also planned hosting a fundraiser to raise funds for its various activities. The event will be held on May 2, 2015, according to Vinita Gulbani, the current president. The highlight of this program will be an All-American Hindi Kavi Sammelan. The Club has encouraged poets across the country to send their poetry and bio data in time to make the event a memorable one, Gulbani added.
Not resting content with these two exciting programs, the Club would participate with the Niles Township Community and Chicago Senior Pariwar for their Kite flying festival and Annual picnic. This will enable the Club to broaden its base interacting with seniors and members of other organizations, observed Gurbachan Kaur.
The Board of Hindi Lovers Club of Illinois met at Taco Express 1127 Fairview Ave. in Westmont, southwest suburb of Chicago, on December 17, an annual affair, and blessed the hosting of these programs for 2015.
The attendees at the meeting were founder president Gurbachan Kaur Shewakramani, the current Club President Vinita Gulabani, Nand Kapoor, Members of the Advisory Board Sudaksha Kapoor, Kamal Gupta and Acharya Rohit Joshi. Shanu Sinha and Ranjana Bhargav joined via phone.
The meeting started with one minute of silent prayer for Naren Patel, CEO of Medstar, whose sudden demise on December 15 shook the Indian community. He was a very prominent member of Indian community and a very big supporter of Hindi Lovers Club. Acharya Rohit Joshi recited slokas for the peace of his soul and everyone prayed to give the family members strength to bear his loss and carry out his task further.
The opportunity was also taken to pray for the innocent victims of the senseless massacre of students out of misguided vendetta and religious zeal. The board then discussed the agenda for upcoming year 2015. The meeting concluded with everyone’s acceptance to follow 2015 agenda. The Club sent its greetings and best wishes for the Season and the upcoming New Year.
The Club has invited Hindi poets from all over America to send their bio-data of their poetry work if they want to participate in the Kavi Sammelan. The email is hindiloversclub@gmail.com or call Gurbachan at 847 962 8595.
