Bathukamma celebrations were grandly organized by Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA) in San Ramon city on Saturday, October 1st in California Bay Area. In these celebrations held at the San Ramon Sports Park, not only from various cities in the Bay Area, but also from nearby cities like Sacramento, all the Telugu people who are staying for this program came here and made noise. Around 700 adults and children participated.
Indian Consul General Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad and his wife Padmavati came as the chief guests for this program and congratulated the WETA team after knowing the activities of Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA). Sridhar Verosi, Vice Mayor of San Ramon City who happens to be Telugu leader and Parks Chairperson Heidi Kenston also participated in this event. Also, members of various Telugu Sanghas in the Bay Area participated and expressed their solidarity.
Bathukamma is a colorful festival where nature is filled with colorful flowers. Here in San Ramon, California, the Bathukamma festival has become magnificent at the “San Ramon Sports” park. Bathukammas piled with flowers were brought. Bathukamma celebrations started after the cultural programs. They all went around Bathukamma playing and making noise.
It is known that “Bathukamma festival” is a symbol of Telangana culture and traditions in the celebrations that come during this Dussehra Navratri days, which is said to be the epitome of female power. Since the establishment of ‘Women Empowerment Telugu Association (VETA)’ every year this Brathukamma festival has been organized with grandeur. And the special attraction of this year’s celebrations is famous movie star / TV Anchor “Udaya Bhanu!” Udayabhanu garu entertained all the guests who came to the program with various programs besides playing “Bathukamma.”
The program was conducted under the patronage of WETA President Jhansi Reddy Hanumandla. President Elect Sailaja Kalluri Thanked “the sponsors of this program and media & volunteers”.
