Deepam harathu me papam deepam jyothi namosthuthe. Deepavali ka harthik shubh kamnaye.
Let the light of this lamp eliminate our sins. My Salutations to this radiant and eternal light.
May the thousands of lamps of Diwali illuminate your life with happiness, joy, peace, health, and blessings.
Deepavali is one of the most awaited festivals across the world. This is Bharat’s grandest and most important holiday of the year. This year, Diwali falls on November 12, 2023. The festival of lights celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and right over wrong. It is an occasion of high spiritual value as it signifies the opening of our own true light which sparkles within us and sharing this glow with others as well.
Currently, the world is in turmoil and people do not know where the world is heading. Multiple ongoing international conflicts and wars between Russia and Ukraine, and Palestine Hamas and Israel are destroying nations, communities, and families and, certainly disrupting the development of the social and economic fabric of these nations. The effects of war include long-term physical and psychological harm to children and adults, as well as a reduction in material and human capital. In addition, death, injury, sexual violence, malnutrition, illness, and disability are some of the most threatening physical consequences of war, while post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety are some of the emotional effects.
The bitter and bloody wars have devastated those countries that are directly involved in the war, further isolating some of them from the other countries of the world and fueling economic insecurity around the world. The current conflicts have severely strained international relations and increased the risk of a worldwide conflict. It seems like tensions are likely to increase among many member countries due to alliance security commitments. These conflicts and wars will also have broader ramifications for future cooperation on critical issues like arms control; cybersecurity; nuclear nonproliferation; global economic stability; energy security; counterterrorism; and political solutions in some countries.
The wars have also compounded global socio-economic crises, with military operations and violence hindering the delivery and distribution of much-needed humanitarian aid and resources.
Although the positive impacts that result from war include the defeat of a problematic government and the correction of injustices, I always viewed war as a last resort. Every country needs to negotiate by following different approaches and ‘Kuta Neeti’ which is helpful in winning over as many favorable alliances as possible to put an end to the conflicts.
When we ignite an oil/ghee lamp, it spreads light in the physical space. Similarly, on the auspicious occasion of Deepavali when blessed lamps are lit, they illuminate the energetic pathway to open the light within us and remind us of the importance of knowledge, the significance of understanding self and knowing and, seeking the good and right pathway. That is why for seekers of enlightenment, harmony, and peace, Deepavali has a special significance and provides an opportunity to suppress all our wrongdoings, ignorance, and darkness that surrounded our egos, and evil ideas that crop up in our minds.
May the energies of light, on this day, take over darkness to spread love, joy, positivity and enthusiasm.
