CHICAGO: Hindi Lovers Club is turning a new leaf under the now rejuvenated leadership of Gurbachan Kaur Neelam. Its buffed up Hindi Classes project has been getting rave review and a much better attendance and now comes its much awaited Hindi KaviDarbar
The first ever such Darvrar was was held on Friday November . 18, 2016 at mini India town on Devon Ave., Chicago, at the newly set up office of Hindi Lovers Club. The event was successful in as much as it was well attended by the poets and the Chicagoland Hindi Kavita fans alike.
There are various different groups who meet every month to recite poetry in Bengali, Urdu ,Punjabi and other Indian languages and I many felt that it was a shame that there did not exist similar platform or facility for holding poetry sessions for Hindi, the National language of India. Hindi Lovers Club picked dup the challenge and gave it a head start last week
The program started with social hour followed with a welcoming speech by Gurbachan Kaur Neelam, founder and present president of Hindi Lovers Club of Illinois.
She briefly detailed the achievements of Club in the past 6 years and pointed out that the hosting ofKaviDarbar is yet another attempt to promote Hindi in this part of the world. Before the poem recitingSarawatiVandana was sung by DevendraDubeyaccompanied by Anil Dhalaria
In this first gathering, the poets who participated and recited their own poetry were Savita Bhatia,Gurbachan Kaur Neelam. Prakash Naik, Roop Mehta ‘Badnaan’, Vinita Gulbani and RoopaliChand,the founder of E3 Entrepreneur. Roopali used to pen poems in English to her father but it was her frist attempt at Hindi poem and it was well received
Afterwards Sudaksa Kapoor recitedHarivansRaiBachhan’s famous Hindi poetry ” Koshish karne vaalon ki Kabhi har nahin hoti” which gave the members new energy to work hard in their attempt to promote India’s National language.. Rohit Joshi ji recited aSaraswativandna and shed more light on the formation of Hindi Lovers Club. RajashreeSen also talked about the establishment of the club.
Every one present felt and voted to have this typeofevent every third Friday of the month at the same place rather than holding at different places .
NandKapur, the former president of Association of Indian in America ad a Hindi protagonist, praised efforts by the Club team in promoting the cause of Hindi in Chicaognd Midwest area and said that more and more Hindifans should come together to shore up these efforts for this noble cause.
The successful event concluded with the vote of thanks by GurbachankaurNeelamto everyone who came and made this idea to a reality.
