Dallas, Texas: The Indian American Friendship Council (IAFC) hosted a free admission seminar on “Social Security Information” to benefit the Indian-American community in Dallas September 7 inviting Public Affairs Specialist Angie Hoquang from the Department of Social Security Administration to give a presentation and answer questions from the community.
The event was attended by more than 100 people who asked many questions. Hoquang gave an impressive presentation touching upon various aspects of social security and answered the questions from the audience. The seminar lasted about two hours. The audience lauded the efforts of IAFC and requested the organizers to host such kind of sessions on different topics to educate the ageing Indian-American community members.
Michigan State Representative Padma Kuppa attended the event as the chief guest of honor. IAFC president Dr Prasad Thotakura introduced Kuppa to the audience. In her keynote address, Kuppa appreciated the efforts of IAFC for all the community activities it organizes. She felt such seminars are essential for the community to dispel misinformation and misunderstandings about social security.
Dr Thotakura, executive vice-president Taiyab Kundawala, vice-president Rao Kalvala felicitated Kuppa and Hoquang. After the event, Kuppa visited the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, the largest Gandhi memorial in the US and paid floral tributes to Gandhi as part of his 150th birth anniversary celebrations.
