NEW DELHI: Global business travel management firm Carlson Wagonlit Travel today said emerging markets like India and China will be the main drivers of growth for the company in next five years in the Asia Pacific.
“Emerging markets will be the main drivers of growth for CWT in Asia Pacific in next five years. India, China and Brazil will be the key markets,” Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) Asia Pacific President Kelly L Kuhn told PTI.
Positive gross domestic product (GDP) numbers in China and India and in most of the countries in Asia Pacific will boost the company’s business, she added.
Commenting on the volume of business in India, Carlson Wagonlit Travel India CEO Geeta Jain said:” In 2012 India had close to 2 million transaction counts.”
Meetings and events besides small and medium enterprises will be key segments that will drive growth, she added.
Mobile technology will also play an increasingly important role on the way the business will be conducted in the coming years, Kuhn said.
Energy sector will also drive business growth. “This will be another major growth sector,” she added.
The company that follows a ‘transaction fees model’ also said it plans to increase its head count in India from the current 1,200 employees in next five years as it pursues aggressive expansion plans in the country, the company said without giving the numbers.
