NEW DELHI: Ahead of his first interface with business leaders, India Inc today expressed keenness to know Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s growth agenda and roadmap for reforms.
“Clearly industry is looking forward to hear what is his (Rahul Gandhi) agenda for growth. We would like to work with him to make sure that our goals are the same,” Infosys co-founder and Executive Co-Chairman S Gopalakrishnan said here.
Gandhi is scheduled to address the annual general meeting of industry body CII tomorrow morning.
“We want economic growth, we want jobs, we want inclusive growth, we are looking forward how we can work together to make this happen” Gopalakrishnan, who is also President designate of CII, said on the sidelines of CII AGM that began here today.
More than a month after being promoted as party Vice President, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will have his first interaction with business leaders on Thursday where he may spell out his vision for economic growth of the country.
The 42-year-old Congress leader is slated to speak at a 45-minute session on the second-day of the meet, which will also be attended by top business leaders and industrialists like Bharti Airtel head Sunil Bharti Mittal, Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej and Wipro Chairman Azim Premji.
Industry chamber CII’s annual general meetings over the years have seen many political bigwigs cutting across party lines making an appearance to enunciate their vision for economic growth. Congress president and Rahul’s mother Sonia Gandhi had made at least two showings at the annual conference in the past.
This year’s AGM was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this morning. The CII conclave will discuss key issues like food security and industrialization.-PTI
