CHICAGO: It is an old saying by now that states “Think Globally and Act Locally”. A globe trotting Indian scientist Dr Dayal Meshri however has modified the saying thru his actions – Act locally and also Act globally – through sharing his knowledge and expertise in Specially Chemicals with many a global firm in East, West and South. And in the process he has earned recognition from around the world.
It was a fitting recognition therefore for this dour scientist that a Tulsa-Oklahoma based no profit organization Tulsa Global Alliance (TGA) should choose him to be one of the three recipients for its prestigious Global Vision Award last month.
TGA, established 36 years ago, is dedicated to increasing global awareness, understanding and opportunities in Northeastern Oklahoma and it annually recognizes and honors an outstanding individual and an outstanding organization for significant and lasting contributions to citizen diplomacy, global understanding, world political stability, religious accord, international trade or cooperative efforts to solve health, social or environmental challenges.
With decades long efforts in this direction, Dr Meshri was chosen as one of the three recipients. The foremost reason, as put by TGA sources, is that he lives and breathes citizen diplomacy through his business and personal relationships and through his generous home hospitality of so many international visitors brought to Tulsa through TGA sponsored programs. He significantly contributes to global understanding of other cultures and for visitors from other countries to better understand America, Oklahoma and Tulsa.
Dr Dayal Meshri, who heads Advance Research Chemicals was presented the award at a glittering function held at Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in the presence of nearly 400 guests and invitees. Dr Meshri was recognized along with his son Sanjay Meshri, vice president and managing director of the company. Interestingly, Dr Meshri is the first Indian American to be so recognized by TGA. The two other recipients were Raymon and Nancy Feldman, and the Rotary Club of Tulsa.
Tusla Mayor Dewet Bartleet Jr was one of the celebrity guests and a keynote speaker. He eulogized the services that Dr Meshri has rendered to the City and its citizens and also presented him with an appreciation certificate from the City Of Tulsa for his global vision and understanding. The other speakers were Phil Lakin Jr and Ken Busby who acted as emcee too.
