SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has bagged three awards for best indicators in categories of population stabilization, outpatient services and indoor and surgical services in the Country.
The awards were announced by Additional Secretary and Mission Director, NRHM, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Anuradha Gupta at the concluding day of National Summit on ‘Best Practices and Innovations in Public Healthcare’ at SKICC here yesterday, an official spokesman said today.
He said Gupta declared State awards for best health indicators in categories of child survival, infant survival, newborn survival, population stabilization, safe delivery, indoor and surgical services, out-patient services, malaria control and TB control.
Jammu and Kashmir bagged first prize in Population Stabilization, second Prize in Out-Patient Services and third Prize in the category of Indoor and Surgical Services, the spokesman said.
The Maximum awards were bagged by Bihar (five) followed by Maharashtra, Odhisa and Assam (four each), J-K, Chandigarh, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan (three each).
The National Summit, organized by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on July 3.
During the summit States across the country presented their best practices and innovations in Public healthcare and thereby provided an opportunity for sharing and learning from each other and broaden the horizon to take the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) forward with enhanced enthusiasm, the spokesman added. . The inaugural function was followed by technical sessions for two days in which best practices presented by States included topics on Child health, Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK) Implementation, Post-partum IUCD (Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device), Maternal death review, Convergence in Urban Planning, Ensuring free drugs and diagnostics in public facilities and improving infrastructure availability and quality.
Comprehensive E-Health, E- Professional Audit in J-K, Use of local resources for health system, strengthening and improvement in organizing the Nursing cadre in Odisha, Chhattisgarh Rural Medical Corps, Transfers and postings in Karnataka, Incentives for difficult areas in Himachal Pradesh, MCI Compulsory Rural Posting, Bridging HR Gaps in primary health care were the other topics which came up during the technical sessions, the spokesman said.
He said the technical sessions also deliberated on best practices in Malaria control, RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Program), E-Governance in Health, Tele-ophthalmology, Mobile based payments, emergency response and patient transport systems with greater efficiency and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) programs. –PTI
