FREMONT, CA: For the 21st Festival of India and Parade, FIA has invited Bollywood star Jimmy Shergill to be the Grand Marshal. Jimmy Shergill is known for his Bollywood and Punjabi movies. Some of his hit movies are “Munna Bhai MBBS”, “Dangerous Ishq”, “Saheb Biwi aur Gangster” and “Mohabbatein”.
Keeping with the FIA Festival tradition, Sniti Mishra, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa sensation will be the Chief Guest and lead the Bollywood musical extravaganza.
For past 20 years, FIA organized Festival of India has come to symbolize the unity, integrity, culture and best of the things that are hall mark of Indian community in Bay area. Celebrated over two days, this festival coincides with Indian Independence day celebration and has many popular and well sought after segments such as health fair, grand parade, Bollywood celebrity as Grand Marshal, kids talent programs, cultural programs representing cross section of India and a Mela that features best of offers for Indian community.
Visitors can enjoy mouth-watering chaat, instantly made Jalebis, attractive jewelry, trendy clothes, and discounted local merchandise.
This year the festival is celebrating Centenary of Gadar movement, 150th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and 100 years of Bollywood. Some of activities planned are kids’ contests and exhibitions.
