First half of ‘Vishwaroopam’ shot in US
If you were to name top few all time heroes of South Indian movies, Kamal Hassan is bound to be one of them. Starting from his hit movie “Ek Duje Ke Liye”, Kamal Hassan has given non-stop entertainment to the masses.
His new movie ‘Vishwaroopam’ has been in news for many reasons long before its release. Many states in India and other countries initially banned the movie saying it was anti-Islamic. However, the movie has received critical acclaim since its release.
Kamal Hassan was in Bay area last week to promote ‘Vishwaroopam’. A spy thriller, it is set against Al-Qaeda training camps and deals with nuclear terrorism and the hero’s quest to bust sleeper terrorist cells in the US. There are enough twists and turns in the movie to keep you enthralled.
Kamal Hassan was in Fremont on Friday January 25 at Big Cinemas on the occasion of the first show of the movie. A huge throng of movie lovers showed up to see their favorite actor and watch the movie.
The movie
Viswaroopam is made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Nearly Rs. 95 crores was spent on its making.
The story begins in America and the first half of the film is shot completely in US. Viswanath (Kamal Hassan) is a Kathak dance teacher. He moves freely with the women who come to learn dance from him and Andria is one of them. Viswanath’s wife Dr. Nirupama suspects the character of her husband and hires a detective who is killed by Al-Qaeda group of terrorists.
Viswanath had some connections with an Al-Qaeda terrorist group in the past. Thus he comes to know about the plan of terrorists to trigger a blast in New York City.
Nirupama is stunned to find that Kamal Hassan is a Muslim and a RAW agent who marries her to investigate Deepak, boss of Nirupama. The remaining story is about how Kamal and his group complete their mission of busting the sleeper cell of Jihadis.
Lead actors of the film are Kamal Hassan, Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Jaideep Ahlawat, Samrat Chakrabarti, Zarina Wahab, Nasaar, Anderson and Shekhar Kapoor. Pooja Kumar adds glamour to the movie. Rahul Bose excels in his role. Shekhar Kapoor also performs well. Kamal is known for portraying different roles in various films. In Viswaroopam also he performs brilliantly as a dance teacher and also a terrorist. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the music for Viswaroopam.
Those who want to see the brilliant performance of one of India’s greatest actors, those who want to see a movie made in international standards and those who are interested in watching a thriller will definitely enjoy it.
