Indian celebrities enjoy a worldwide following and it’s not just actors, but some filmmakers, too, who have fans across the globe. Karan Johar is one such director. He has now become the first Indian filmmaker to have his wax statue at the Madame Tussauds museum in London. The first process of having him waxed began with a meeting of creative directors from the museum, which took place at the Merlin Studios in London on April 12.
Since his debut as a director in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (‘KKHH’), Karan has managed a career that goes well beyond just filmmaking. This year, ‘KKHH’ will see its 20th anniversary and his popular TV show, ‘Koffee With Karan’, will also air its sixth season in October. Karan is looking forward to the launch of his wax statue later in the year, too.
The wax figure is a result of a combination of traditional sculpting and modern-day technology. The process will take approximately six months to complete, after which it will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds. It will be launched with a multi-city tour across Asia to give his fans an opportunity to see the statue. The filmmaker also plans to be a part of this promotional tour, so that he can interact with people.
