HAYWARD, CA: Versatile singer Karthik sang his way into the hearts of his 1400-plus fans at a live concert brought to Chabot College, Hayward May 4 by Ashok Dacharla, Prasanna K Adusumilli and his team of Maxim Media in association with Bay Area Tamil Manram and Bay Area Telugu Association. It also marked the debut of this award-winning playback singer in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Karthik and his team of singers which includes Shaktisree Gopalan and Pragathi Guruprasad were at their best throughout the evening, displaying incredible vocals that swept listeners, many of them Indian Americans, into the sounds. The band had Navneeth on Keys, Vijay on guitar, Keith Peters on base guitar, Vikram on percussion and Daya on drums.
Karthik started his professional career as a backing vocalist and has since been working as a playback singer. He has sung in multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali and Hindi among others. Karthik is known for his versatility in the industry which gave him opportunity to sing a variety of songs.
The evening commenced with a power-packed performance of “Maha Ganapatim” fusion, followed by his hit numbers from Ghajini, Varanam aayiram, Ayan, Aadhavan and Raavan in both Tamil and Teulgu. Flanked by a five piece ensemble, the singer churned out hits after hits, bringing about several rounds of high-decibel cheers.
Singer Shaktisree Gopalan from Karthik troupe performed next, upping the excitement quotient with songs like “Nenjukkulle” from the film “Kadal”. She is a lead vocalist for the freestyle band group called Off The Record. Shakti kept her audience interactions lively and fun-filled providing non-stop entertainment.
This was followed by power packed solo and duet performance by Pragati Guruprasad. She is an Indian playback singer from Fremont, California.
She was the runner-up in the third season of the reality-based singing competition Airtel Super Singer Junior.
Karthik and team charmed the audience, putting on a performance that had fans thankful that they attended and hoping for him to return soon. “It was mind blowing. I am so happy that I got to see and enjoy this talented singer’s performance,” said Prasanna from Fremont, who was enjoying the concert with his family.
