CUPERTINO: DanceKarishma, Indian Dance Academy in Bay Area since 2002, conducted Kathak Riaz Session with their Bay Area Students at their South Bay location. Students from Fremont, Dublin, South San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and Cupertinoattended the event. While most of the students attended the session over zoom, many preferred to come for in-person Riaz.
Two-hour long event started with, invocation of Lord Ganesha, followed by Guru Vandana then continued with intricate footwork patterns in Fast tempos/speeds. Non-stop Tatkaar (footwork) practice developed the stamina in students and most importantly created the rhythmic vibrations in atmosphere through their copper bells attached to anklets (ghungharoos). The sound of ghungharoos for 2 hours was a melody to ears.
After high energy Riaz, each group showed some of their favorite compositions. This was a small effort to bring positivity in the community, said Mrs. Jaya Sharma, Director, Dance Karishma Dance Academy. Event ended with pizza-party organized by school for all students.
