ARTESIA, CA: The first annual Artesia Shopping Festival that took place over the December 8 & 9 weekend on the famous Pioneer Blvd in Artesia, was a huge success with throngs of shoppers coming in from all over Southern California and beyond to avail all the special discounts and hobnob with their favorite celebrities.
Artesia Mayor Pro Tem Sally Flowers along with Sanaya Irani, the Khushi of the very popular prime-time show on Star ‘Is Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon” officially opened the festival to the public by coming out for a ribbon cutting ceremony.
After the inauguration, Khushi met with her fans at the Dish Network booth and took pictures as well as signed autographs. She later made appearances at select stores on Pioneer Blvd, home to many Indian boutiques, restaurants and jewelry stores.
The event was made possible by the support of leading Hindi General Entertainment channel, Star Plus and was powered by entertainment platform Dish Network.
Participating merchants offered deep discounts on their wares during the two-day extravaganza. More than 50 merchants on the street signed up for the discount program that attracted shoppers from across the Southern California region and beyond. On Sunday, Dec 9, the second day of the festival, Star Plus brought surprise celebrity Raghav who met with fans and took pictures at the event.
“This event reiterates Star Network’s commitment to the local community, i.e. our viewers; it is also our way of expressing gratitude to the small business advertisers who have brought tremendous value to the general entertainment space with their support. We have been an integral part of such an event in New Jersey and are pleased to nurture the growth of this new initiative in the Los Angeles area” said, M K Srinivasan, SVP – North America, Star Network.
“My whole family has been so excited about this event ever since we heard about it. The deals, the shopping, the excitement have made it worth our trip. For the first time I could walk freely with my children on the road without worrying about cars. Overall an extremely well managed event,” said Suman Arora, who drove in especially from San Diego, CA for this two-day extravaganza.
The event was organized by Touchdown Media, after the grand success of the Oak Tree Shopping Festival in New Jersey. “The idea was to bring in all shoppers and help boost the sales and economy while providing them with star attractions and deep discounts,” said Rahul Walia, Founder of the festival franchise and CEO, Touchdown Media Inc.
