FREMONT: Homam, Yagnas and Hymns have over the centuries been used to invoke divine presence and create an ambience of peace and tranquility. As Indian community grows in numbers, its presence and involvement in religious and cultural events is increasingly pronounced.
Maharudra Homam and Rudrabhishekam program at Fremont Hindu Temple on Saturday June 29 was a one of its kind event where divine presence was felt by one and all.
Rudram chanting by 108 Sai devotees, enchanting Namasankeertan by Shekhar Bodduppalli and team and the extraordinary pooja and homam by priests Pt. Vishwaprasadji and Pt. Kumararaswamiji filled the atmosphere with divine cosmic energy.
Pt. Govindji of Fremont temple described this auspicious occasion as one where chanting of all the devotees became one and invoked divine spirituality that filled the room.
It appeared as if every single aspect and moment had divine blessings. The stunning 8ft tall Shivling built by Pt. Vishwaprasadji together with beautiful Utsav Moortis of Shiva and Parvati that miraculously arrived by ship from India just a day before the event, were a testimony to God showering grace for true devotion. Holy herbs (found in Himalayas) and the Poornahuti offerings were flown in specially for this event from India.
The event was reminiscent of the Yagas performed during ancient times as depicted in holy scriptures. Vedic Dharma Samaj (Fremont Hindu Temple) and Sai devotees took over 300 attendees on a spiritual journey to the Vedic times.
The bhakti, devotion and the reverberating mantras mesmerized the devotees for five to six hours offering spiritual bliss that they have not experienced before.
Combined with the heat of the sun, the homam, chanting, and the Namasankirtanam, the offering was literally intense and a tsunami of energy and love for God! Several volunteers and specially Pt. Vishwaprasadji worked tirelessly and made it a memorable offering.
