KOLKATA: BJP today attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for blaming RAW for the Burdwan blast saying her remarks were against national interest and that she should take lessons about the ill effects of appeasing fundamentalism from the recent attacks in Pakistan.
“Mamata Banerjee’s statement blaming RAW in the Burdwan blast is against national interest. She has no understanding of the country’s national interest. She has no understanding about the brave work that the national security agencies are doing to ensure the security of our country,” BJP national spokesperson M J Akbar told PTI.
“Banerjee is only doing politics of encouraging fundamentalism as she is only interested in politics of votes.
This is a dangerous trend both for Bengal and the country,” Akbar said.
Akbar’s comment comes a few days after Banerjee indicated at a party meet that there might be RAW hand behind the October 2 blast.
“Banerjee should understand the global phenomenon of this virulent form of terrorism. Pakistan is paying the price of appeasing fundamental elements, which were to be used against India and Afghanistan.
“You have to understand that you cannot have a meal with a snake and hope not to get affected by poison. This is something Mamata Banerjee is not realizing. She should take lessons from Pakistan,” he said.
He lauded Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement that there is ‘negligible’ support from Indian youth for ISIS and termed it as ‘very reassuring’.
