NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today conveyed his best wishes to his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott for the Cricket World Cup to be held Down Under early next year.
Modi also spoke about the common interest India and Australia share on hockey and cricket besides requesting Abbott for cooperation in establishing sports universities in India.
“Our two countries are bound by shared love for cricket and hockey. Today, I have requested Prime Minister Abbott for cooperation in establishing sports universities in India,” Modi said at the joint press briefing here after a comprehensive meeting with the Aussie PM.
“I also conveyed to him our best wishes for hosting the 2015 Cricket World Cup,” he added.
The World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29.–PTI
