CHICAGO: Overseas friends of BJP (OFBJP) – Chicago felt deeply saddened at the death of former Indian Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Remarkably, he was Ajat Shatru – with only friends and no enemies.
The Indian American Diaspora and OFBJP-USA held condolence meetings across America that included Chicago too and mourned his death while eulogizing his achievements at the same time.
The condolence gathering Shradhanjali was held on August 22 at Jalaram Mandir in Hoffman Estate and was attended by a cross-section of 350 plus Indian Americans.
Among the speakers were Rohit Joshi, Amar Upadhyay, Vandana Jhingan, Sohan Joshi, Krishna Bansal , Sunil Shah, Sailesh Rajput, Chirayu Parikh, Haribhai Patel and Ms Santosh Kumar of MAFS. The vote of thanks was proposed by Rohitbhai Joshi.
The consensus was indeed a huge loss to the nation as 1.3 billion people remember his yeomen service to the country rendered by late Atal Ji. His unmatched literary skill in writing poems besides being an active politician and his laced oratory always mesmerized the people. His humble and pleasant personality had endeared to him with both the masses and fellow leaders.
