MUMBAI: Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah on Sunday praised the Parsi community, saying that they contributed to the country in every sector without demanding ‘minority’ rights.
“There are many people who fight for the rights of the minority people. I want to tell them that if there is a minority in the minority, they are Parsis. They never protested for their rights but lived to fulfil their duties. They did not demand anything for themselves; they made contributions to this country,” Shah said while speaking at a media function here.
Detailing out the contributions of the Parsis in India, he said: “Parsis are in every field, be it law, industry, the development of fintech, the IT sector, in the atomic sector, or in victory in Bangladesh (war), you will find a Parsee standing silently.”
“Without demanding anything, they (Parsis) contributed to the nation and they kept giving. I pray to god that minorities are like you,” he added.
He also said that when Parsis came to Gujarat for asylum, the local Raja told them that his kingdom had already a high population and asked them how could they live there. Then the Parsis said, like sugar dissolves in milk, they will also integrate into society. (ANI)
