CHICAGO: Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago (PCS) is organizing its 20th annual Sports Festival on Saturday August 2 at Falcon Park Recreation Center in Palatine, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
The PCS Chicago Volleyball and other games activities for men, women and children and many fun activities and races will be outdoors at Falcon Park from 9 am to 7 pm.
Rajinder Singh Mago, a spokesperson, said that there is “Free entrance, free Punjabi food and free parking at the park. All are welcome with families to watch, play, and enjoy the games and the free delicious Punjabi food. And also Yoga, Bhangra, Aerobics, Zumba, stretching exercise lessons etc.”
Musical chairs, tug-of-war, three-legged races, spoon races and races for children will add to the family fun for men, women and children.
A local Punjabi musical group and singers will entertain the audience with Punjabi songs. D.J. music will be on all day.
The formal opening ceremonies with invited V.I.P. dignitaries will be at 12:30 pm. Vendor booths are allowed for fee. For the PCS Chicago Volleyball Championship, first prize of $500 and the second prize of $250 will be awarded to the winners and the runners-up. Children and adult races winners will also receive prizes and gifts.
The Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago is a not-for-profit community service organization devoted to promoting healthy lifestyle and sports, education, good citizenship, Punjabi culture, language, and performing arts, in the metropolitan Chicago area and beyond.
