Perfect blend of shopping and entertainment

web3FREMONT: Shor Media and Desi 1170 organized Diwali Bazaar, an annual event at “The Sainte Claire Hotel” on Sunday, November 4 from 10 am to 5 pm. It was a free event and was attended by about 1000 people from all over the Bay area. The program was organized by Shor Media, in association with Desi 1170 and the program had a perfect blend of entertainment and shopping.
The event had about 40 vendor booths catering to designer wear, jewelry, real estate agents, beauty salon, insurance companies. The event was done in association with Divine Vastu, Matrix Insurance agency and Andaaz TV. The show was different from the regular Diwali events and the organizers had included a comical angle to the show, says Ritu from Shor Media.
The show witnessed extraordinary performances by the talented tots of Bay area. Students of Rangmanch theater group performed Dandia, hip hop remix and classical performance. Nach K Dekh is a Bay area based Bollywood dance company. Like the unique flavors of an Indian curry, Rangmanch came up with the right mix of music, steps, style, choreography, and costumes to give each dance its unique character that is music to your palette.
Ramleela act was performed by tiny tots of Chinmaya Mission which runs several regular programs to serve the community. Feeding program at the homeless shelter, San Jose Youth Sandwich Preparation Program, Lunch Bag Sewa by Families are some of their prominent activities in Bay area.
Jyoti Kala Mandir performed to the authentic Odissi dance, Kuchipudi. The dance school was established in 1993, founded by Guru Jyoti Rout. JKM represents the future for Indian music, dance and mardala in USA and India. The organization is dedicated to preserving and promoting India’s vibrant classical music and dance. The institution not only trains the students in music and dance, it also conducts mega events like dance and music festivals, workshops, seminars, dance recitals by eminent artists and performances by exponents in various fields in India and USA.
The show witnessed some dramatic stand up comedy performance by Samson Koletkar and Kabir Kabeeze. Samson Koletkar is of Indian-Jewish origin and has participated in America’s Got Talent. He enthralled the crowd with his comical views on the impending elections and general issues.

He won the 2010 Asian American Theater Company Comedy Competition, has performed at clubs, colleges and corporations in India, Canada and 12 states in the US and has been featured on Asian Jewish Life, Indian Express, NBC, CBS and NPR.
Kabir “Kabeezy” Singh is one of the fastest rising stand-up comedians in the USA headlining nights at some of the most famous clubs in California including the Hollywood Improv, Hollywood Laugh Factory, Long Beach Laugh Factory, SF Punchline, SF Cobbs, and selling out many other clubs all over America.
Kabir has also opened and shared the stage with some of the biggest stand-up comedians in the world including Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, Bill Burr and Russell Peters. He has also been seen touring on the “BFF” Tour with Jo Koy and Anjelah Johnson. Kabir’s energy, in-your-face attitude mixed with clever material and the love to please the crowd anywhere has grown him a monster fan base in a few short years.
Project Pulse entertained the crowd with a brilliant dance act. It has been providing high-quality dance entertainment to the Bay Area since 2006. Their work has a unique concept created by a team of talented and thoughtful artists.
The show came to a close with a brilliant performance by upcoming singer Nayan Shah. He stole the show with Bollywood melodies and fast numbers. The event was an appetizer to put the Desi crowds into the Diwali mood.
