SAN JOSE: Prof. Shiva Singh of San Jose City College has been honored as “Best Instructor of the Year” at the Associated Student Government (ASG) Hall of Excellence Award Banquet.
The Award ceremony was held in San Jose City College on May 14 in front of District Chancellor, College President, Administrators, staff, Faculty and students.
Prof. Shiva Singh has been teaching at San Jose City College for the last 13 years for the San Jose Evergreen Community Colleges District. Earlier, he had a long career in IBM, General Electric, Unisys Corporation and high tech after finishing his graduate studies.
Prof Singh has two sons, one is CEO of a high tech company in Silicon Valley and other is Reserve Major in the US Army and Full time Police Officer in the City of Mountain View.
Prof. Singh has lived in San Jose for last 41 years. His wife Meera Singh is a housewife. He is also heavily involved in philanthropic work in his home district in India. Recently he built a Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple and a Dharmshala in his home town. He is also building a Durga Temple in his neighboring village of Ujjain Bangara and a Memorial Monument in memory of his ancestors.
He says he has adopted his village and plans to repair or build a home for every person who can’t afford it but needs it.
