Deepika Padukone has struck a profit-sharing deal with the producers of her upcoming short film ‘Finding Fanny Fernandes’. In a rather interesting quid pro quo arrangement, the actress has taken a pay cut for the film being directed by Homi Adajania, instead adding a clause in her contract which stipulates that she will get a share in the profits if the film crosses a certain mark on the box-office.
A source in the film which is currently being shot in Goa said, “Deepika was very keen to be a part of the film and she has a close relationship with Homi and Dinesh Vijan, the producer of the film. She has worked with the producers in ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Love Aaj Kal’ so didn’t mind taking her price down for the film. But there is a clause which mentions that if the film makes money Deepika will get a share as well.”
The source added, “Finding Fanny Fernandes is not a regular Bollywood film and if Deepika charged her usual fees that would make the project expensive. That is why it was decided that her remuneration would depend upon the business the film eventually ends up doing.”
It is usually the big-hitters like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan who strike such deals but this year has been a good one for Deepika who has had two recent hits.
