PHAGWARA/SULTANPUR LODHI: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has completed the gigantic process of installing electricity connections at all 52 langar sites at Sultanpur Lodhi for the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith.
According to an official note, the Punjab government has established the first of its kind underground 66 KV sub-station at Arya Samaj Chowk in the holy city for uninterrupted electricity supply during the celebrations this month.
Deputy Commissioner D.P.S. Kharbanda said that the biggest challenge was to create the basic infrastructure of electricity as the holy city has not witnessed such kind of religious occasions when more than 50 lakh pilgrims will visit the holy city.
He said that the 600 KW electricity connection was released at the langar sites in front of the main pandal in PUDA colony where six new transformers have been installed. Besides that, to facilitate the other langars, two connections of 300 KW each were established at Lohian Chungi and at village Randhirpur. Another 250 KW electricity connection was also set up at the langar site on Talwandi Chaudriyan Road.
Kharbanda further said that more than 45 electricity connections ranging from 10 to 40 KW were also installed.
