PHAGWARA: Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has enhanced the grant for facelift and modernization of Phagwara railway station from Rs 5 crore to Rs 8 crore.
This was disclosed here October 25 by Lok Sabha Member from Hoshiarpur and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash.
He said that earlier Rs 5 crore grant was sanctioned for the facelift and modernization of the railway station.
“On my bringing to Goyal’s notice various other requirements of the station, the Railway Minister very kindly enhanced the grant to Rs 8 crore,” said Parkash.
“Utmost care will be given to providing modern facilities and ensuring safety and security of passengers under the modernization project,” he said.
Listing the different proposed facilities, Parkash said: “A spacious first class waiting hall of 15X10 meter size, a 10X10 meter size VIP room, a six-meter wide over bridge, a 2.25-lakh liter RCC overhead tank, well-equipped clean lavatories, shed, chairs, benches, improved parking, a new-look renovated building and other related facilities for passengers will be made available at the railway station which will become a most modern railway station in the state”.
Parkash thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Goyal for the enhanced grant.
