The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated with pride and solemnity at the Consulate General of India (CGI), San Francisco, in the presence of members of the Indian diaspora, community leaders, and distinguished guests at the iconic Gadar memorial.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Honorable Consul General of India, Dr Srikar Reddy followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The occasion marked India’s adoption of its Constitution and reaffirmed the nation’s enduring commitment to democratic values.
Addressing the gathering, the Consul General Dr Reddy spoke on key excerpts from the Honorable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu’s Republic Day address, highlighting India’s progress, democratic resilience, inclusive development, and the vital role played by citizens at home and abroad in nation-building. The Consul General emphasized India’s achievements in governance, innovation, women-led development, and its growing global engagement.
The Consul General expressed sincere appreciation to the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for their continued support and active engagement with India’s growth and global standing. Acknowledging their contributions across business, technology, education, culture, and public service, the Consul General thanked the NRI community for acting as vital ambassadors of India’s values and traditions abroad. He noted that the strength of India’s global partnerships is deeply rooted in the dedication and achievements of its diaspora, whose commitment continues to strengthen ties between India and the United States.
The program also featured patriotic renditions and cultural elements that reflected India’s rich heritage and unity in diversity. The celebrations served as an occasion to strengthen bonds within the Indian community and reaffirm shared values of freedom, equality, and constitutional ideals.
The Consulate General expressed its appreciation to the community members and volunteers whose participation made the Republic Day celebrations meaningful and memorable. The flag hoisting at the Gadar Memorial reinforces the importance of preserving history while educating younger generations about the contributions of freedom fighters who operated far from home but remained deeply connected to India’s destiny.
