SAN JOSE: American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPIO) is an umbrella organization for all Indian origin physicians. It has chapters in over 30 cities. It has been acting as glue for all Indian origin physicians for over 30 years.
This year’s focus area for AAPIO was fight against childhood obesity. As part of annual fund raiser for the cause cultural event was held on June 30 in San Jose. Dr. Kranthi Achanta, Dr. Hemant Dhingra, Dr. Vijay Tiwari and Dr. Akhil Wadhera were among leading Bay area doctors who made the event in San Jose possible.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy trio performed to a packed San Jose Performing Arts Center. They gave a stunning performance at the concert. In a refreshing change to local trend, the trio started the performance at 7pm, right on schedule. They performed all the hit songs that kept the audience spellbound. Some of the hit songs that enthralled the audience were from “Dil Chahta hai”, “Dus” and “Kal Ho Na Ho”
Dr. Jayesh Shah, President AAPI said, “It took a long time to plan the series of SEL concerts. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy performed in nine cities, with San Jose being last leg of the tour. AAPI’s focus this year is fight against child obesity and AAPI is gearing up to take up the cause in a big way. Being able to fight child obesity will be like “an ounce of prevention is worth pound of cure. The event combined entertainment along with educational seminar in nine cities.”
Such large scale events show significantly increasing influence of Indian community in US in all spheres of life. Bay area is fast becoming a cultural hub and melting pot of all discerning and quality musical events.
Such events that combine art with fund raising for a cause serve the dual purpose of bringing community together culturally as well as promoting well being and health.
