Fairytale wedding of Ranveer & Deepika in Italy
The power couple of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone
finally tied the knot in the gorgeous Italian town of Lake Como, at the Villa del Balbianello.
Ranveer and Deepika had two wedding ceremonies. On November 14, they got married according to Konkani rituals, and on November 15, they followed the Sindhi customs.
During the Sindhi wedding ceremony, according to reports, like many emotional brides, Deepika cried during the last phera. She and father Prakash Padukone shared an emotional hug, following which Ranveer hugged them both and promised him that he would take care of Deepika.
The wedding was a private affair and only close family members were invited for the functions. There were heavy security arrangements in place to ensure that none of the wedding photos were leaked. Security guards were patrolling the lake to chase away any photographers and gossip-hunters.
According to an entertainment portal, Ranveer and Deepika did not invite any of their B-Town friends, and the couple was advised the same by their close friends from film fraternity.
A source was quoted as telling the portal, “Ranveer and Deepika were keen to have a handful of close friends among the invitees at the wedding. Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty and Sanjay Leela Bhansali were invited. But they suggested to the couple that it would be better if Bollywood was completely blocked from the wedding. Inviting a few from Bollywood would make the rest restless.”
Instead, Ranveer and Deepika have kept a reception for Bollywood friends on November 28 in Mumbai.
Ranveer’s mehendi
A week after the wedding, Ranveer was making other husbands look bad. If Deepika got her hands adorned with mehendi at their mehendi ceremony, Ranveer had henna applied on his palm too. The doting husband got ‘Deepika’ written in the Devanagari script on his left palm.
Ranveer’s stylist Nitasha Gaurav shared the photos and wrote, “Presenting the newly minted Mrs & Mr Ranveer Singh Bhavnani!!” She also added, “In the words of Mr Bhavnani Sr today, yeh deewani toh Bhavnani ho gayi!” Clearly, this is how Ranveer’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, welcomed his daughter-in-law.
Deepika Padukone started the Live Love Laugh Foundation on October 10 (World Mental Health Day) 2015 to create awareness about mental illnesses and reduce the stigma surrounding them. To mark her wedding with Ranveer Singh, the non-profit organization changed its name to #DeepVeerwale on Instagram.
Cousin’s welcome
While the guests at the Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh wedding were asked not to put up any pictures on social media, they made sweet gestures in their own special way. If Deepika’s sister Anisha Padukone changed her name to #Ladkiwale on all her social media accounts, her cousin Amit Padukone welcomed Ranveer to the family.
“Magical week, steeped purely in love. Fairy-tale union of the two most kind, beautiful souls. @RanveerOfficial Welcome to the fam! you’ve dethroned me as filmiest, but I’ll cope. @deepikapadukone Never seen you happier; you deserve no less! #ladkiwale #DeepVeerKiShaadi,” he tweeted along with a collage of the couple’s pictures.
