BREA, CA: On Tuesday, February 19, Shivinderjit Singh was sworn in as the Traffic Commissioner for City of Brea at the General Session of the Brea City Council Meeting held at Council Chambers at 1 Civic Center, Brea. After going through a set of interviews, Shivinderjit Singh was nominated for this position in the February 5th Council Meeting by Council Member Marty Simonoff and Council Member Christine Marick.
Mayor of Brea, Ron Garcia, called the General Session of the Brea City Council meeting on Feb 19 to order at 7:10 pm. Mayor Pro Tem Brett Murdock and all Council Members of Brea – Marty Simonoff, Christine Marick and Roy Moore were present. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Girl Scout Troop 2665 and the Invocation was led by Pastor Steve Choi from Crossway church. After the presentation of Commendations of the Outgoing Commissioners, the presentation of Oath of Office for the incoming Commissioners was conducted by Mayor Garcia. Present among other City Officials were also the Public Works Director and the Police Chief.
Mayor Ron Garcia and others present congratulated Shivinderjit Singh after the oath taking ceremony. The event was well attended by over 75 people. Singh and his wife, Dr. Ginny Kaur Chawla thanked everyone for their support. Present among Sikh community and family were Bicky Singh and Gurpreet Kaur of Sikhlens and Future Computing solutions, Kaviraj and Gurpreet Kaur from IIGS, Jatinder and Rosie Singh, Vimal and Deep Ghuman, Avinder Chawla, Jasdeep Mann, Mrs. Manpreet Chadha, Mrs. Abinash Kaur Dhodi, Mrs Jasleen Kaur Gujral and Mr and Mrs Ajit Singh Chawla. This was followed by a dinner at Shenai Restaurant in Brea.
As a resident and a business owner in Brea, CA, Shivinderjit Singh, along with his wife, Dr. Ginny Kaur Chawla, and two kids Sahej Kaur and Amrit Singh, have enjoyed the culture of interactive government promoted by the city since many years. He believes that Brea’s community outreach programs and organizational excellence are really impressive, and instill in its citizens the sense of civic ownership. It is his desire now to contribute to the best of his capabilities, and his professional qualifications make it possible for him to better serve the residents of Brea and protect its quality of life.
Shivinderjit brings a proactive approach, a record of public interaction, community service experience, and a strong motivation to serve the local community, in addition to many years of experience in the transportation and real estate industry.
Shivinderjit Singh, P.E, P.M.P, holds a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Los Angeles, CA, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. He is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of California, and is also a licensed California Real Estate Broker. He currently serves as Office Chief in the Division of Electrical Engineering-Construction and is also the CEO of DreamWorks Real Estate, and CFO of Eagle USA Mortgage.
Singh’s goal is to enhance the operation of the Brea City streets and to facilitate and optimize the movement of people, goods, and services in a safe and efficient manner.
On the public service front, he aims at promoting high quality safety services, conservative fiscal policies, support Brea’s youth and families, and promote regional transportation improvements and developments that will benefit future generations of its residents.
Shivinder said that the source of his inspiration in involving with the local community is his wife, Dr. Ginny Kaur Chawla, who along with their kids, Sahej Kaur (12) and Amrit Singh (9) are actively involved in the local Sikh community and the interfaith community. Dr. Ginny Kaur currently sits on the Board of Sikh Center of Orange county and is the Zonal Convener of Sri Hemkunt Foundation for Orange County.
In addition, the family is actively involved with the Sikh Film Festival (Sikhlens), SALDEF, Kaur Foundation, GNCA, IIGS, California Sikh Council and various Orange County interfaith organizations.
