Verandah launches Clubhouse, opens for occupancy in Sep

CHICAGO: The first of its type multi-million dollar project for seniors  in Chicagoland, Verandah  Retirement Community celebrated the grand opening of its clubhouse July 14. It was announced that it will be open for occupancy from September 15.

Verandah is the first multicultural community in the Midwest designed with residential senior housing and a commercial lot fronting Irving Park Road on a 12-acre property located in Schaumburg township.

The senior living development will include townhomes and condominiums for sale with a clubhouse and  medical services for use of the residents.

“We wanted to have a fully operational clubhouse before the first resident moved in as the clubhouse is such an important part of our community” said Anuja Gupta, the managing partner of the development.

“We are also excited to announce that the first set of residents will be moving in starting September 15” she added.

Verandah, located in Schaumburg township’s Hanover Park village, is a unique retirement destination community designed to celebrate both Indian and American lifestyles for seniors.

The Clubhouse will be the main attraction feature of the community. It is planned as a 20,000 square feet facility with a vegetarian dining room, community room, gym, computer room, library, beauty shop, theater. The dining facility will serve chef-made multicultural and Indian cuisine using fresh local ingredients for lunch and dinner daily.

The Clubhouse will offer a full calendar of activities and entertainment options to provide many avenues for social interactions. The property will also offer extensive landscaped areas including a big pond, park, walking paths. The launch July 14 was for the temporary clubhouse which will remain operational till the final clubhouse is completed in approximately two years.

Verandah will offer townhomes and condominiums for sale with a huge Clubhouse and medical facilities for use of the residents. The homes range in size from 1450-2000 square feet for the townhomes and 620-1200 square feet for the condominiums.

The townhomes and condominiums are especially built for senior living and offer a convenient, low maintenance lifestyle. The housing will be offered at $200,000-$475,000 to accommodate various budgets and lifestyles. The base-price includes upscale finishes and all appliances. A variety of upgrades will be offered. All exterior maintenance will be taken care of by the homeowners association fees in the range of $350-475 per month.

The location is central and close to new Elgin-Ohare expressway. Chicago’s O’Hare airport is about 30 minutes away and downtown Chicago is about 45 minutes away. The area also has two excellent medical centers. Schaumburg is close to other attractions important to the Indian community including various religious organizations, ethnic grocery stores and restaurants.

Many features of the property are custom made to cater to the and & preferences of South Asians. The Clubhouse décor is designed in a theme inspired by the vibrant colors of Rajasthan.  The furniture, artwork and fixtures have been selected to reflect the theme of royal Rajasthan. The rooms include space for activities like yoga and meditation in addition to other activities.

The dining room will serve vegetarian Indian and multicultural cuisine.

The temporary clubhouse includes a community room, activities room, gym, dining room, outdoor patio and yard.

“Loneliness if the biggest problem for many seniors. The Clubhouse is designed to include many avenues for residents to socialize and make new friends,” added Gupta.

The medical services will include a doctor’s office, physical therapy office, home-health service and an assisted living and memory care facility.

Construction started in March 2018 and will progress in phases with townhomes planned to be built in 2019, condominiums in 2020 and medical facilities in 2021. The plans include the construction of 55 townhomes, 75 condominiums and 80-unit medical building.
