CHICAGO: Verandah Retirement Community, the first of its type multimillion dollar project for seniors in Chicagoland, that had commenced construction in fall of 2016, is now slated to complete its first phase by coming summer 2016, according to Dr. Anuja Gupta, President & General Partner.
Giving this information to a group of invitees and well wishers at a recent event in Hoffman Estates, she said that Verandah will offer townhomes and condominiums for sale with a huge clubhouse and medical facilities for use of the residents. The location is central and close to new Elgin-O’ Hare Expressway while the Chicago O’ Hare airport is about 30 minutes away. Downtown Chicago is about 45 minutes away. The area also has two excellent medical centers, she added.
Verandah is a senior living community currently under development in the Schaumburg area. The Schaumburg area is central to many other attractions important to the Indian community such as the BAPs temple and Jain temple in Bartlett, Swaminarayan temple in Carol Streams, Itasca temple and Radhey-Shyam temple. There are also two mosques located within a few minutes of the property. The Gurudwaras of Palatine and Wheaton are within 25-30 minutes.
There are many grocery stores close by like Patel Brothers, Surabhi, Annadata, and Siri. The area also has many Indian restaurants like India House, Bombay Chopsticks, Jaihind Palace, Priya, Cool Mirchi and many more.
The townhomes and condominiums are especially built for senior living and offer a convenient, low maintenance lifestyle. The Clubhouse will be the main attraction feature of the community. It is planned as a 10,000 square feet facility with a dining room, community room, gym, computer room, library, beauty shop, theater. The dining facility will serve vegetarian Indian and multicultural cuisine for lunch and dinner daily.
The property will also offer extensive landscaped areas including a big pond, park, walking paths. The medical services will include a doctor’s office, physical therapy office, home-health service and an Assisted Living & Memory Care facility.
“Our emphasis is on socialization of the seniors. Loneliness is a big problem in the senior community. At Verandah we designed many amenities and facilities to bring the seniors out of their homes and be involved in group activities, make new friends and enjoy their life some more,” pointed out Dr Anuja.
“This kind of facility was much needed for our community” said Sunil Shah, president of Federation of Indian Associations.
The event was attended, among others, by leading members of the Indian community Dr. Bharat Barai, Sunil Shah, Dhitubhai Bhagwakar, Haribhai, Narsihnbhai and Jayanti Thakkar.
